The Creme Egg Martini: The Latest Easter Egg Cocktail to Give a Try!

Between freshly baked hot cross buns, boozy long weekend lunches and decadent dessert cocktails — who said Easter was just for the little ones?

By the time Easter rolls around, everyone’s holding out for a relaxing long weekend where they can kick back, catch up with friends and enter a chocolate egg induced food coma. This year, we’ve got all the tips you need to plan a long leisurely lunch with a decadent fourth course of a round of Creme Egg Martinis. The cocktail doubles up as a dessert, but we say — why not have both?

With this recipe, you can make the most of any extra easter eggs lying around, as well as the bottle of Baileys Irish Cream leftover from St Patrick’s Day celebrations, so it’s a win-win.

“Go and enjoy this decadent, Easter Creme Egg Cocktail, it’s only a couple of ingredients, so you can do it at home. Trust me, it’s delicious!” Jarrod says. So, without further ado, let’s enter sweet tooth heaven!

What you need for the Creme Egg Martini

Cocktail ingredients

(Serves 2)

60mL of Absolut Vanilla Vodka

120mL of Baileys Irish Cream

60mL of Cocktail Collective Crème De Cacao

120mL of chocolate sauce

Cadbury Creme Eggs, to garnish

<h2> How to prepare the chocolate sauce

  1. Grab all your leftover Easter eggs, break them down into small pieces and place in a saucepan on your stove.
  2. Add approximately 100mL of milk.
  3. Heat your saucepan on a low-medium heat, constantly stirring the broken up chocolate and milk to avoid your mixture from burning.
  4. You’re done! Once you’ve shaken up the cocktails, drizzle any extra chocolate sauce over some ice cream for an easy dessert.

How to make your Creme Egg Martini

Method:

  1. Grab your cocktail shaker and add 60mL of Absolut Vanilla Vodka. Jarrod’s Creme Egg Martini recipe serves 2, so if you’re shaking up a batch for your housemates, friends or family — remember to multiply!
  2. Next, pour 120mL of what Jarrod calls, “your Easter staple”. It’s of course — Baileys Irish Cream
  3. To add an extra kick, we’re adding 60mL of chocolate liqueur. The Cocktail Collective Crème De Cacao is perfect for the job!
  4. Then, take the chocolate sauce that you prepared earlier and add approximately 120mL to your cocktail shaker.
  5. Before you start shaking your martini, grab your glasses and start to rotate them as you add a chocolate swirl to the inside and edges.
  6. Shake the martini and then divide evenly between your glasses. Garnish with a Creme Egg for the finishing touch!

Cocktails for dessert? Here’s 4 indulgent chocolate cocktails to serve up based on your sweet tooth cravings.

We’ve already given our winning chocolate and wine combinations, so this time, we thought we’d pair you with your dessert cocktail soulmate based on what type of chocolate you normally gravitate to in the supermarket aisles. Jarrod’s already given us the perfect martini recipe for all the Creme Egg lovers out there, but what other dessert cocktails should you try? Let’s find out!

If you love choc-mint, try a Grasshopper cocktail.

This boozy and sweet, 1970s era cocktail is for all the lovers of the (sometimes divisive) chocolate and mint combination. In a classic Grasshopper cocktail recipe, Crème De Cacao and Crème De Menthe are blitzed or shaken with vanilla ice cream for a decadent and creamy cocktail that refreshes your palette with minty goodness. Originating from America’s cocktail capital of New Orleans, much like 70s fashion, the Grasshopper is making a comeback! At your next dinner party, instead of serving after-dinner mints, shake up a round of Grasshoppers instead.

If you love Toblerone, try a — you guessed it — Toblerone cocktail.

The yellow, triangular packaging of Toblerone is as iconic as the swiss chocolate itself and now the Toblerone cocktail has collected a cult following after it was first created in 2003. The cocktail pays homage to the widely loved honey-nougat-hazelnut combination of the famous chocolate bar. Frangelico brings notes of hazelnut, while Kahlua adds coffee, and Baileys Irish Cream gives the cocktail its rich and creamy cocoa taste. A dash of fresh honey is added for good measure and with a strawberry or two on top to garnish, you’re on your way to an indulgent cocktail that doubles up as a dessert.

If you love chocolate and coffee, try a Mudslide cocktail.

Not so much a cocktail as a boozy adult milkshake, the Mudslide is for all the coffee and chocolate lovers out there. Vodka and coffee liqueur cut through the addition of Baileys Irish Cream and heavy cream, creating a boozy and thick milkshake-like concoction. If you love espresso martinis but want to shake up your cocktails every now and again, the Mudslide is for you!

If you love the herbaceous chocolate and aniseed combination, try a Golden Cadillac cocktail.

Now chocolate and aniseed isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but those who love it, really love it. The Golden Cadillac is a simple but decadent cocktail that was first created in California all the way back in the 1950s. As the story goes, a newly engaged couple came into a bar in the gold rush town of El Dorado in California, requesting that a special cocktail be made to mark the happy occasion. The Golden Cadillac was then born, named after the couple’s golden Cadillac car parked out the front of the bar. Galliano gives the cocktail its herbaceous star anise meets vanilla flavour, while white crème de cacao brings a velvety smooth cocoa taste.
