Jarrod @diycocktailguy is our go-to aficionado for whipping up easy-to-make drinks at home, and with his latest cocktail recipe, he’s showing you how to make the most of cherry season beyond pavlovas and pies. “The raspberry vodka complements the cherry element so well; so if you love cherries, you’re going to love this one,” Jarrod says.
Here’s everything you need to make this new summer staple at home. The cherry on top? It’s easy to make, easy to drink, and easy to serve up for two or for twenty people, depending on the occasion.

How to make Hard Cherry Lemonade
Method:
It’s no wonder why hard lemonade is a summer staple. Delightfully juicy, fruity, and bursting with sweetness, it’s the perfect pick for your next weekend BBQ, pre-drinks before you hit a music festival or pitcher of cocktail to take to a picnic. The concept of hard lemonade is by no means new either. Bright and colourful cocktails like the Fruit Tingle and Blue Lagoon are two juicy old-school favourites that bring together vodka, lemonade and blue curacao for a fun and fruity cocktail. And if you’re not up for mixing your own, pick a pack of the Smirnoff Ice Lavender Lemonade or the Pimms Long Lemonade Cans for a quick and easy alternative to seltzers, beers or ciders.
Hard seltzers have undoubtedly had their moment in the sun over the last couple of years. Sparkling water, a hint of natural flavour and a dash of alcohol to bring the ‘hard’ element, all combine for a refreshingly light (and often lower in sugar) alternative to other ready-to-drink premix alternatives or summer staples like beer or cider. Some thought the seltzer wave would come and go, but its rising popularity has proved that it’s found its rightful place in the market. And now, hard lemonade is hot on its heels. From Jarrod’s sweet and rich cherry version, to our Barbie-themed pink lemonade recipe, your summer of hard lemonade is sorted. Plus, mixing up your own from scratch means you can dial the ‘hard’ element up or down as much as you please, or remove it altogether for a non-alcoholic version for the sober curious in the room. Just pick the ripe fruit of the season and blend away!
