Simple Syrups

Our Must-Try Autumn Cocktail Syrups

What’s the cheat code to delicious, flavourful cocktails?

According to Jarrod @diycocktailguy, simple syrup can make the biggest difference to the flavour of your cocktail.

Simple syrup, also known as sugar syrup, is the backbone of any home bar or classic cocktail.

And the good news is, it’s called simple syrup for a reason. You can pick up pre-made simple syrup quickly in-store, “but making it yourself is super convenient and it actually tastes better,” Jarrod says.

He suggests experimenting with different flavours, like jalapeño, lemon or mint. If you ask us, a mint simple syrup is the perfect addition to a refreshing, southern-style Mint Julep. “You can use these simple syrups in all your different cocktail recipes and they last such a long time as you only need a small amount,” Jarrod adds

Keep scrolling as Jarrod walks you through a classic sugar syrup recipe, as well as a few seasonal syrups to level up your next whiskey or rum based Autumn cocktail.

What cocktails can you use simple syrup in? The beauty of simple syrup is that it’s used in a lot of tried and tested favourites. Keep your batch in your fridge and add to your next lot of espresso martinis, daiquiris, or a delicious and bubbly French 76.
