Looking for Halloween cocktail ideas? Warren Mendes serves up a spooktacular Midori sour recipe complete with bold garnishes.
When it comes to Halloween cocktails, don’t hold back, says Warren. “If you’re going to celebrate Halloween, you need to go all in. And this includes your drinks, not just your costume.” Sours are the cocktail du jour and Warren is putting a Halloween spin on a classic sour using Midori liqueur as the key ingredient. “Halloween is really Midori’s time to shine with its electric green colour,” he says. “The sweetness of the melon liqueur is balanced by the acidity of the lemon and lime juice in this sour recipe. And for extra fright factor, I’m finishing it with lychee ‘eyeballs’ and maraschino cherries.” Follow Warren’s lead and get into the spirit of Halloween with your favourite fancy dress and this Midori sour.

125mL Hoshi Japanese Vodka

Tip: Want to make these cocktails even spookier for your Halloween party? Try drizzling 1 tbs raspberry syrup ‘blood’ over the top of each glass, then garnish with a Halloween straw and Halloween lollies before serving.
Whether you lean towards tropical flavours, want to build a rainbow liqueur collection for colourful cocktails or are in the mood to shake up some good memories for your party crowd, you definitely need a bottle of Midori Melon Liqueur in your bar cart right now. Add a bottle of Japanese vodka – distilled in Japan from a base of white rice, Hoshi Vodka has a subtle sweetness that’s great in cocktails – and you’re all set for cocktail hour. As well as the 80s throwback Midori Sour, you can use them to make retro favourites like the pineapple-flavoured Illusion and the OJ-topped Melon Ball cocktail. Or just add ice and lemonade or lemon-flavoured soda water for a simple and refreshing highball.
